Great night at the 100 Club. Brilliant air conditioning and good drinks choice.
Primitives were excellent, as always.
Audience less so. Why go to a gig and talk during songs or play with your phone. Those responsible were certainly old enoUgh to know better!

The Primitives, 100 Club, London - 29th June 2018

Excellent gig last night by The Primitives at The 100 Club. 30 years since I last saw them live and they haven't lost anything as a live band. Only problem was that the gig wasn't long enough, just 75 minutes or so including encores. They did play all the crowd faves (as shown by the massive singalong at times) but would have loved to hear some more.

Formed in Coventry during the summer of 1984, the band quickly become an integral element of the newly emerging indie scene and quickly gained publicity when Morrissey was snapped wearing one of their T shirts.

After initially releasing their singles through their own label Lazy Records, they singed to major label RCA who released their debut album Lovely in 1988 which hit #6 in the UK album chart. It featured their two huge singles Crash, which hit #5 in the UK singles chart and #3 on the Modern Rock charts in the states, and Out Of Reach which rose to #25 in the UK.

Their success continued with second album Pure. Released the following year, the band enjoyed a Top 40 position for the album with the included singles Sick Of It, Way Behind Me and Secrets all charting highly. The band split following the release of third album Galore.

They came out of hibernation at the beginning of 2009 after nearly eighteen years of dormancy and began gigging again. They soon returned to the studio to record and release the album Echoes And Rhymes. They continue to release new material and their latest album is entitled Spin-O-Rama.
