So brilliant to see and hear The Pretenders again - after a gap, for me, of nearly 41 years. I saw them when they supported the Stones at Roundhay Park in Leeds in July 1982 - I hadn't even realised they were going to be there until I heard them, and raced right to the front, and vividly recall Chrissie Hynde singing the words 'We are all of us in the gutter / But some of us are looking at the stars' in Message of Love - and I was right back there again last night, hearing her sing them again, still pitch-perfect - and how empowering that was, as a woman of a similar age, and surrounded at the Cheese & Grain by so many more of my kind, still 'out there' doing our thing. And fabulous to close my eyes and feel that same beat running through my veins, my bones, and to know that I'm still the same person I was. Thank you Chrissie, and the band.
