About Spiritualized

Few bands have shaped the sound of British space rock quite like Spiritualized. Formed by Jason Pierce — better known as J Spaceman — after the end of his influential earlier band Spacemen 3, the group built its reputation on blending fragile, soul-searching songwriting with vast, enveloping arrangements of strings, gospel voices and swirling guitars. Their 1997 masterpiece Ladies and Gentlemen We Are Floating in Space was named NME’s Album of the Year and remains a landmark of the era, part of a catalogue that also takes in Lazer Guided Melodies (1992) and Songs in A&E(2008).

Across the years, Spaceman has also performed a more intimate Acoustic Mainline set, drawing on both the Spiritualized and Spacemen 3 songbooks and accompanied by a string quartet, gospel singers and longtime guitarist Doggen Foster. Hushed and heartfelt, these performances reveal the quiet beauty at the heart of the band’s enveloping sound.
