About DJ Spoony
DJ Spoony is and continues to be one of the central pillars of the UK Garage movement. Over 20 years in the game and still as relevant as ever, with his weekly gigs up and down the country, his work across Premiership Football and of course his new weekly BBC Radio 2 show ‘The Good Groove’.
In recent years his ‘Garage Classical’ project with conductor Katie Chatburn and the Ignition Orchestra has brought new life and energy to the scene’s most iconic and legendary songs with stand out, sold out performances across London’s Barbican, Hammersmith Apollo and of course the mighty Royal Albert Hall. Having featured special guests including Craig David, Mike Skinner of the Streets, Ms Dynamite and even Emeli Sande; the project has gone from strength to strength, with 5-star reviews, bringing together audiences and fans new and old.
Most recently Garage Classical took over the stunning Kew Gardens in July 2022, with another sold out affair, featuring performances from the likes of So Solid Crew, Heartless Crew, Elisabeth Troy and the roll call of UK Garage legends that’s just too long to mention!
Now they return for a unique double header for their winter addition at Southbank’s prestigious Royal Festival Hall on Feb 24th 2023. Two shows in one night. A brand new set list and of course a guest list of artists featuring the So Solid Crew, DJ Pied Piper and the Master Of Ceremonies, Elisabeth Troy and many, many more. The classic recordings of the late ‘90s and early noughties era, unlike you’ve ever heard them before. If you’re a UK Garage fan… this one is you!
