Toyah: Acoustic Up Close & Personal, Rafa Music Club Newark, Newark - 30th June 2017

Toyah was brilliant a great little venue and very audience friendly. Second group afterwards was also excellent.

Toyah looks good, and still sounds as good as in the 80s (maybe even better at times). Material was a great mix of new and old, performed superbly, and she very much engaged with the audience. Supporting guitarists were brilliant. Overall, a great night.

Toyah: Acoustic Up Close & Personal, Rafa Music Club Newark, Newark - 30th June 2017

Great venue and great set by Toyah. Her voice is still amazing. Would have rated at 5 but she seemed so keen to be gone that no one had chance to interact with her that was a shame.

Toyah Wilcox rose out of the punk rock movement to become a leading figure in new wave.

Toyah Wilcox blazes that trail, even now after being involved in music and film across five different decades, she has a spirit in which cannot be broken, which cannot be defied and for those fortunate enough to truly remember the 80s, Toyah was one of the reasons the music moved away from the downtrodden beige spectacle and into fighting back against expected and misbegotten conformity.” - Liverpool Sound And Vision

The 80’s icon has announced a handful of headline dates including Harpenden Public Halls on Friday 3rd of May and O2 Academy2 Newcastle on Saturday 22nd of June. Later in the year, see her at Rescue Rooms in Nottingham and O2 Academy Islington in London during October 2019.

This was a night of 100 per cent full-on Toyah with swirling synths, pounding drums and howling guitar. Somehow she’s 59, but looks amazing and her energy on a sweaty Saturday night” - Lancashire Telegraph
