About The Stone Roses

Four names. Perhaps the most important four names in music ever to be put together are Reni, Mani, John Squire and Ian Brown. They are The Stone Roses.

Their creativity and music explodes like a Jackson Pollock painting to create a sound that would become synonymous with Manchester and change the musical landscape of guitar music forever.

Be a part of history and see them perform at Wembley Stadium, London on Saturday 17th of June, 2017. The Stone Roses tickets are about to become available. Launched at 09:30 on Friday 30th of October, they are expected to sell out - fast! You can set your own personal reminder to arrive via text message or email through Gigantic making you ready for their release.

The ultimate Manchester band formed in 1984 and quickly threw themselves headlong into gigging. Having already become notorious due to their graffiti advertising campaign which proliferated the walls of the city, The Stone Roses enjoyed somewhat of an outlaw reputation that drew in the curious.

After a number of years hard work their breakthrough came with the release of their eponymously titled debut album in 1989. The record boasted a wealth of modern classics including Waterfall, Made Of Stone, I Am The Resurrection, I Wanna Be Adored and She Bangs The Drum. It was soon followed up by the double a side single Fools Gold / What The World Is Waiting For which cemented their place as the essential new band.

Recognition came quickly with the NME Readers poll rewarding them with the titles Best New band, Band Of The Year, Album Of The Year and Single Of The Year for Fools Gold. The crowning glory would come the following year with their now infamous day festival at Spike Island which has been dubbed ‘Woodstock for the baggy generation’.

Having grown from being more than a mere band to become the cultural and musical force behind a new generation, many wondered where they could go from there.

They made their return with the oft much undervalued album The Second Coming. Grandiose in title to match the bigger rock sound, the second album offered the massive dance beat of Begging You, the tender heartache of Ten Storey Love Song and the modern blues masterpiece Love Spreads.

Despite having sold over a million copies worldwide and being certified Platinum, the release of the album in 1994 signalled a time of turbulence for the band. The release of the follow up album was bogged down by legal battles with labels plus in-fighting within the band led to their split to the dismay of fans who expected to never again see them play together.

Nearly twenty years on, the band reunited in secret and plotted their return which culminated with three homecoming gigs at Heaton Park, Manchester in June of 2011. After subsequent gigs and festival appearances they released new songs All For One and Beautiful Thing in 2016 with a new album expected to be released in the imminent future - finally!!!
