Formed in Sunderland, The Futureheads burst onto the scene with their self-titled debut The Futureheads (2004), a whirlwind of angular guitars, breakneck rhythms and the interlocking four-part harmonies that became their signature. Their electrifying cover of Kate Bush's "Hounds of Love" reached number eight in the UK and was crowned NME's Single of the Year, cementing their place among the very best of the post-punk revival.
A run of albums followed, each pushing their sound somewhere new: News and Tributes (2006), This Is Not the World(2008) and The Chaos (2010), before the band stripped everything back for the entirely a cappella Rant (2012). They returned with Powers (2019) and the festive Christmas (2025), never once losing the raw edge and infectious energy that make them such a thrilling band to see live.
