Additional information

Some AI bot generated this passage when we asked if the Bats were Psych Pop..“Yes. The Bats incorporate elements of psych pop into their music. While they are known for their broader sound, which includes twisted wistful folk, psychedelic rock, and bouncy twee pop, they definitely have a strong psych pop influence. Their sound is characterized by catchy melodies, jangly guitars, and sometimes a dreamy, psychedelic atmosphere, which aligns with the psych pop genre.” - Fare enough - So here we go ....

New Zealand’s indie “psych pop” band, The Bats, are gearing up for their Corner Coming Up album release day with the highlight of performing and chatting on Jesse Mulligan’s RNZ Afternoon Live session on Friday 17th Oct. This will be followed by an early evening instore performance at Flying Nun’s Christchurch shop.

The new album (number 11!) was recorded in Port Chalmers at The Historic Chicks Hotel studio with Tex Houston as producer. Expect some moving music, both on the dance floor and in your hearts.

A first taste from the recording session was an NZOnAir video/single, Loline, that was shared with the world in April. It was created by reknowned NZ filmaker, Martin Sagadin, filming the Bats at the James Hay Theatre at the Go Live Festival in the Christchurch Town Hall last year (photo below). Next page shows a still from the Waikuku beach village Loline filming location.
