Manchester rock ’n’ roll band with timeless grit, soul, and unforgettable live energy.
If you'd like to be the first to know when new events are announced, you can follow Proud Mary below.
Proud Mary formed in Manchester in 1998, quickly making their mark with the release of their debut album The Same Old Blues on Noel Gallagher’s Sour Mash label in 2001. Drawing inspiration from icons like Dylan, The Rolling Stones, and The Faces, the band carved out a sound that was entirely their own thanks to Greg Griffin’s searing vocals and Paul Newsome’s masterful songwriting. Written in just ten days and produced by Gallagher alongside Gem Archer at Wheeler End Studios, the debut established Proud Mary as a band of both grit and soul, winning over critics and fans alike.
Over the following two decades, Proud Mary delivered a string of acclaimed albums across the UK and the US, including Love and Light (2004), featuring Andy Rourke of The Smiths on bass, California-recorded efforts Ocean Park (2010) and Pilgrim Fields (2013), and their most recent record Songs From Catalina (2020). Alongside headline tours, they’ve shared stages with Oasis, Neil Young, Stereophonics, Paul Weller, Ocean Colour Scene, Ryan Adams, and Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds, cementing their reputation as one of rock ’n’ roll’s most enduring live acts. More than twenty years and five albums on, Proud Mary remain a band of timeless energy and spirit, still bringing their music to audiences old and new.
