How interesting!
Many thanks to Dave Belbin for alerting me to this - I took a friend along and we both found the event informative and interesting. I hadn't known that the family were near neighbours of mine - and I will now go in search of the blue plaque on Caledon Road . It was lovely to hear the extracts from Middleton's novels read aloud - will be following that up with some reading - and particularly to see the Booker statuette. What an amazing thing to exhibit in the library for a couple of years. It was also nice to have a few words with his daughter - as many of her childhood memories of her dad generated nostalgia for my own childhood and a dad who took me to our local library and read aloud to me.
The only negative was the issues with the sound system. That needs a bit of work before the next event.
