Rick Wakeman: Return of The Caped Crusader – York Barbican (24th February 2024)

Rick Wakeman York Barbican 24.02.24

Sheer Brilliance!

I've wanted to see Rick live for many years, but dates and locations never suited. But finally, I saw him at York Barbican, and the wait was worth it! The great man has lost none of his magic touch, producing cascades of glorious music from his numerous keyboards - yet also allowing the individual skills of his support singers and musicians to be rightfully showcased. From the first half, featuring early Yes material, to the second half's majestic Journey to the Centre of the Earth, performed in its originally conceived "full" version, the audience were carried on a tide of musical splendour. Two standing ovations at the close of the show seemed hardly sufficient for the glorious joy this concert had delivered.

Deaf Havana -  Islington Assembly Hall, London (23rd February 2024)

Deaf Havana Islington Assembly Hall 23.02.24

Fantastic

I really loved this show! Deaf Havana played Old Souls from start to finish and the feeling in the audience was buzzing. Everyone just sang along - not only during the songs from Old Souls but also when the encore (newer) songs were played. This was my first concert in the UK, and I do compare it with the ones I go to in Belgium - audiences are just different but still a good place to be.

Seth Lakeman - Union Chapel, London (29th February 2024)

Seth Lakeman - Union Chapel, London (29th February 2024)

Outstanding performance as ever

Seth Lakeman is a natural and seasoned performer yet he still outdid himself, with his exceptional band. Always a delight to see the enigmatic Cormac Byrne as well.

Wonderful evening all round at Union Chapel.

The Zutons - Bask, Stockport (28th February 2024)

The Zutons - Bask, Stockport (28th February 2024)

What a gig

Zutons at Bask was a Christmas present for my wife and she was buzzing about the gig. The Zutons didn't disappoint - all the classic tunes with a few new ones thrown in for good measure... Bask staff were very helpful in keeping the beer flowing and we loved singing along to all the top tunes.

Direct from Graceland: Elvis - The Arches, London Bridge (22nd February 2024)

Direct from Graceland: Elvis Arches - London Bridge (22nd February 2024)

Unforgettable

I loved it from start to finish. The only problem I had was, I didn't want it to finish! I loved the Elvis music playing upon entering. This instantly got me and my mom in the mood.

I particularly loved watching snippets of Elvis's life played on the monitor in the refreshment area.

Upon entering I thought I was going to hyperventilate. I couldn't believe I was looking at his gold phone - his own phone from his bedroom! I took photos from every angle.

Moving along I thought I would hyperventilate further when my eyes gazed upon his mother's dress… then that necklace… then the poodle bag!

The white 56 shoes, oh my god! The contracts, the first single, the blue police light, the police badge, the DEA jacket, the jumpsuits, the three-wheeler car, his books, the statue of Jesus… it was like I'd truly died and had gone to heaven.

Then, the moment came when we got to put on the white gloves. My mom cried; she was so overcome with emotion. Then a lovely lady in the queue also began to tear up. I felt the need to console her! Everyone - (all women) felt overcome with emotion. I was awestruck. Truly.

I found the American lad who handled the items very, very friendly & knowledgeable. This added to the experience somewhat. I wanted to know stuff behind the scenes and he was able to tell me how the car, for instance, was shipped over. He told me he had met Angie Markazie and even Priscilla, which I found even more incredible.

At the end I went around again and started right at the beginning. Taking even more photos. I didn't want to miss a thing. I didn't want the moment to end, I wanted to hold on to it as much as I could.

I have been an Elvis fan since I was six. I'm 42 now, and I daydream about going to Graceland. This is probably the closest I'll get for now. When the opportunity came I was determined to secure two tickets for me and my mom. She is also a fan. I couldn't tell you how much this has meant to me. The once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to hold an iconic item, from an iconic man, floored me! I will replay this magical moment forever and a day, over and over in my mind. I thank you for preserving the items so nicely and for allowing us fans to have the ultimate fan experience. Seeing the artefacts is one thing… up close is altogether a different thing. A dream come true. Thank you.
