The War On Drugs – I Don't Live Here Anymore
Often the larger a band grows, the greater the disconnect between the audience as they drift further away from the sound and emotions that made them attractive in the first place. Fortunately, Grammy Award winning Pennsylvanian folk rockers The War On Drugs continue to be as heartfelt and earnest as ever on new record I Don't Live Here Anymore which sees them reach truly impressive emotive heights across ten tender tracks.
In the last four years since the release of last album A Deeper Understanding, their biggest international hit to date, songwriter and guitarist Adam Granduciel, bassist Dave Hartley, and multi-instrumentalist Anthony LaMarca have been working on demos born out of multiple sessions at upstate New York, taking their time to perfect their latest work.
The resulting record, created with the aid of co-producer/engineer Shawn Everett at famed studios Electric Lady in New York and Los Angeles’ Sound City, is a true masterpiece which captures the heart of a band so beloved whilst also keeping up the momentum built up over the past sixteen years. Triumphant title track “I Don’t Live Here Anymore” includes a contribution from Lucius, “Living Proof” finds a powerful strength in fragility and “Change” is destined to be a live crowd pleaser at every The War On Drugs show forever more.
