A fantastic and thought provoking evening with a beautiful captivating performance from Kate. She should be the poet Laureate

Kate Tempest, Albert Hall, Manchester - 10th November 2019

Kate T = mind blowing, heart breaking, uplifting.... you can hear a pin drop as she speaks.

Beautiful venue, great acoustics, but the lack of reserved seating continues to be annoying!

Grear gig - just amazing - absorbing - what a performance - such honesty and passion.
Special mention to the synth player - she was simply superb.

Kate Tempest, O2 Academy Brixton, London - 27th May 2017

This was a great gig. Tempest performed both albums, but poetically put them together to create a story.

A lot of the time she was performing powerful poetic words, which made it even more deep than it would be with loud music banging over her words.

Kate Tempest announces a tour in support of new album The Book of Traps and Lessons.

Artist Bio

Spoken word prodigy Kate Tempest has shown an astonishing command of contemporary English having won the illustrious Ted Hughes Award and shown supreme prowess in her work in drama, poetry and spoken work performances. She has recently expanded her horizons to include music through which she uses her boundless talent to work in rap and hip hop.

Having grown up in South East London district of Brockley, she has hardly grown up in the lap of luxury. Hanging around squats and experiencing poverty first-hand, her final disillusionment with politics came with the government ignoring the millions who marched against the Iraq War only to be ignored.

The feeling of being disenfranchised and alienated has come to characterise her work which includes her award-winning poetry book Brand New Ancients. Unafraid to take an unflinching look at the grit and pain of the real world, she has expanded to from the page to the decks and recorded the album Everybody Down. Released in 2014, the record was nominated for the prestigious Mercury Music Prize.

Seeing Kate Tempest perform live enhances everything you hear on the album. She is raw, urgent, honest, warm and most of all, riotously talented with words. She’s no simple showboat MC, revelling in speed alone, but someone who uses her staggering command of language to create music with narrative, themes, character and meaning in a way unique to her genre. She’s a rapper who makes poetry out of rap music.

This year sees the release of her new album The Book of Traps and Lessons. Yet another compelling piece of work from Britain’s most vital voice.

Don’t miss your chance to see one of the most thrilling young artists in the UK right now and get up close to enjoy her visceral talent. If you don’t go see her this time, we can promise that when you do, you’ll have to stand a lot further from the stage.
