Idaho songwriter Josh Ritter impresses with his idiosyncratic take on folk and alt-country.
Ritter leads The Royal City Band, whose members include Zack Hickman (bass, guitar), Sam Kassirer (piano, keys), Josh Kaufman (guitar, lap steel) and Ray Rizzo (drums).
He has released eleven studio albums, including his eponymously titled debut record which dropped in 1999, plus Golden Age of Radio (2002), Hello Starling (2003), The Animal Years (2006), The Historical Conquests of Josh Ritter (2007), So Runs the World Away (2010), The Beast in Its Tracks (2013), Sermon on the Rocks (2015), Gathering (2017), Fever Breaks (2019) and Spectral Lines (2023).
