Jack Johnson is the multi-platinum, chart-topping surfer-turned-songwriter whose warm, sun-soaked acoustic sound has made him one of the most beloved live draws of the past two decades.
Few artists capture easy-going, sun-soaked charm quite like Jack Johnson. A former professional surfer and surf filmmaker from Hawaii, he moved into music in the early 2000s, releasing his debut Brushfire Fairytales (2001) before breaking through with In Between Dreams (2005) — a UK number-one album that spawned enduring favourites such as “Better Together”, “Banana Pancakes” and “Sitting, Waiting, Wishing”.
Across eight studio albums, among them the UK chart-toppers Sleep Through the Static (2008) and To the Sea (2010), plus his number-one Curious George film soundtrack (2006), Johnson has sold more than 25 million records worldwide with his laid-back blend of acoustic folk, soft rock and gentle surf-pop. Just as well known for his environmental commitment, he founded the Kokua Hawaii Foundation and has long been a leader in greener touring. On stage, his warm, feel-good shows have made him a festival favourite and one of acoustic music’s most quietly enduring stars.
