Hooton Tennis Club are an essential garage rock band. Taking inspiration for their name from a court in Little Sutton, the band have made a series of fantastic releases including the amazing album Highest Point In Cliff Town. They have announced highly anticipated upcoming live dates now that they have finished the recording sessions for their second album in the studio.
The band includes drummer Harry Chalmers plus Ryan Murphy and James Madden sharing vocals and guitar.
The school friends all met whilst attending Upton By Chester High School and began writing music together in 2013. By the beginning of January, the following year they were featured by Dave Monks on BBC Introducing before becoming the latest acquisition for The Label Recordings with whom they put out the ‘trash-indie psychedelic’ four-track EP I Was A Punk In Europe (But My Mum Didn’t Mind).
The release secured them a place on cult indie label Heavenly who released their debut single Jasper/Standing Knees which was soon followed by second single Kathleen Sat On The Arm Of Her Favourite Chair. Their debut album is titled Highest Point In Cliff Town. Released in 2015, it was produced by Bill Ryder-Jones (lead guitarist of The Coral) and has fast become part of the record collection of any serious music fan.
Work on their second album has almost been completed. Their new material is expected to feature in the sets of their upcoming headline dates.
