Eric Clapton is one of the most influential guitarists in the history of popular music, revered for his blues-soaked playing, soulful tone and remarkable longevity. Born in Surrey in 1945, he first rose to prominence with The Yardbirds before redefining electric blues-rock with John Mayall & the Bluesbreakers and later Cream, the supergroup whose powerful improvisations and groundbreaking sound shaped an entire era. His solo career has been equally iconic, producing timeless songs such as “Layla”, “Wonderful Tonight” and “Tears in Heaven”, each showcasing his unmatched ability to blend emotional honesty with technical brilliance.
Live, Clapton has always been a commanding yet understated presence — letting his expressive guitar lines and warm, heartfelt vocals speak for themselves. His work has earned numerous awards, including multiple Grammys, and he remains the only artist inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame three times. From his deep connection to the blues to his influence on generations of musicians across rock, soul and beyond, Eric Clapton’s legacy stands as a defining pillar of modern guitar music.
