About CUD

Cud are a British indie rock band formed in Leeds in the late 1980s, known for their playful, genre-blending sound that mixes elements of indie, funk and post-punk. Fronted by Carl Puttnam, the band quickly gained attention for their witty lyricism and offbeat energy, becoming part of the UK’s thriving alternative scene. Their debut album When in Rome, Kill Me (1989) introduced their distinctive style, followed by Leggy Mambo (1990) and Asquarius (1992), which further established their presence on the UK indie circuit.

Renowned for their energetic and often unpredictable live performances, Cud built a loyal following across the UK during their initial run before disbanding in the mid-1990s. The band later reunited, returning to the stage with the same sense of fun and musical inventiveness that defined their early work. With their distinctive blend of humour, groove and indie attitude, Cud remain a much-loved and enduring presence within the UK’s alternative music landscape.
