Ben Watt has found success in many forms; writer, DJ and presenter but he is probably best known for being one half of the extraordinary band Everything But The Girl and his work as a solo musician. He also runs the independent labels Buzzin’ Fly for techno music and Strange Feeling Records which is largely guitar based.

His success came early as a solo artist. He released the album North Marine Drive in 1983 through the independent label Red Cherry Records which hit #1 in the indie charts.

He formed Everything But The Girl after meeting Tracey Thorn at University in the blissfully perfect industrial city of Hull. Thorn had also established her solo career through Cherry Red Records before working with the man who would become her husband. The pair would smash the charts all over the world with their hit songs Wrong, I Don’t Want To Talk About It and Missing.

Watt will be joined by legendary guitarist Bernard Butler. Butler first found fame as the lead guitarist and main songwriter with the darkly sexy band Suede where he was able to exhibit his sheer talent for frenetic lead guitaring. Following an acrimonious split from the band he would for a partnership with David McAlmont with whom he continues to work with. He is also a highly successful solo musician and record producer.

Watt and Butler began to work together in 2014 when Butler played the accompanying guitar for his live shows in London cool bar The Slaughtered Lamb.

We ran into each other at a party a few years ago and just got chatting. I’d spent ten years in electronic music, running Buzzin’ Fly and DJ-ing whilst Bernard had spent ten years as a producer and collaborator. We both wanted a change.

The duo have continued to tour and play live in differing forms ever since.

Ben Watt tickets are now on sale.

See him perform with Bernard Butler this June at The Deaf Institute in Birmingham, Wedgewood Rooms in Portsmouth and Hare and Hounds in Birmingham.

The two will also play at Rescue Rooms in Nottingham and Union Chapel in London during October.

Make sure you book your concert tickets for this wonderful pairing early to avoid disappointment.
