About UB40 featuring Ali Campbell

UB40 topped the UK singles chart on three occasions and sold 70 million records as they took their smooth yet rootsy musical blend to all corners of the globe. Between 1983 and 1998 the group produced three ‘Labour Of Love’ albums, bringing hits such as Eric Donaldson’s ‘Cherry Oh Baby’, Lord Creator’s ‘Kingston Town’ and Johnny Osbourne’s ‘Come Back Darling’ to a new, global audience.

They also topped the charts on both sides of the Atlantic with their reggae cover of Neil Diamond’s ‘Red Red Wine’, and a cover of ‘I Got You Babe’ with Chrissie Hynde, and had a UK hit with (I Can’t Help) Falling In Love With You’.

Aswad are one of Britain’s most successful reggae bands. In an illustrious career that stretches back to the mid-70s, they have worked with a long list of legends including Bob Marley, Dennis Brown and Burning Spear and produced a timeless run of reggae classics that have left an indelible mark on the musical landscape. From the pure roots of early singles like ‘Back To Africa’ and ‘54-46 (Was My Number)’ through to chart topping singles such as ‘Shine’, ‘Give A Little Love’ and ‘Don’t Turn Around’, Aswad’s unique combination of infectious tunes and positive energy puts them in a class of their own.

Janet Kay is best known for the Dennis Bovell produced track ‘Silly Games’ which went to #1 in the National UK charts at the start of 1979. This was the first time a British born black female hit the top of the charts – a feat now immortalised in the Guinness Book of Records. Janet Kay had already had many underground hits on the Reggae charts prior to this with tracks such asd ‘Loving You’, ‘That’s What Friends Are For’, ‘I Do Love You’ and more.

Carroll Thompson first found fame with the Reggae Smash ‘I’m So Sorry’ and had a slew of hits such as ‘Hopelessly in Love’, ‘Make It With You’, ‘Love Won’t Let Us Wait’ and ‘I’m Still Waiting’. Carroll was lead vocalist and founding member of 1980’s Jazz-Funk group Floy Joy and she has worked with Sugar Minott, Trevor Walters, Courtney Pine, Chaka Khan, Stevie Wonder, Michael Jackson, Natalie Cole, Maxi Priest, Billy Ocean, & Mad Professor.
