This Is The Kit is the musical project of British singer-songwriter Kate Stables, known for its warm, folk-inflected sound and thoughtful, understated songwriting. Originally formed in Bristol before later relocating to Paris, the project blends elements of folk, indie and subtle experimental textures. Early releases such as Krülle Bol (2011) and Bashed Out (2015), produced by The National’s Aaron Dessner, helped establish a reputation for intimate, intricately arranged songs.
Renowned for their gently captivating live performances, This Is The Kit have toured extensively across the UK and Europe, including appearances at festivals such as Green Man. Their later albums, including Moonshine Freeze (2017), Off Off On (2020) and Careful of Your Keepers (2023), have continued to earn critical acclaim. With a distinctive voice and a knack for quietly powerful storytelling, This Is The Kit remain a standout presence within the UK’s contemporary folk and indie landscape.
