Jesca Hoop, Barbican Hall, London - 4th October 2019

Jesca was great as ever. Excellent sound quality in The Barbican Hall meant the vocal harmonies sounded absolutely fantastic. Some great audience banter as well. The Leisure Society kicked the evening off with an excellent set - I'd not really heard them before so was pleasantly surprised. Altogether a thoroughly enjoyable evening.

My daughter and I thought you were amazing, so talented. Thank you for signing her CD and giving her a hug. You will have a fan base for a very long time if you show that much generosity.
Thanks again

Californian singer Jessica Alice Hoop started performing Mormon hymns and folk tunes as a four-part harmony with her family whilst only a teen. She moved to Los Angeles where she became a nanny to Tom Waits children who would prove instrumental in developing her career.

Her releases include the records Kismet, Hunting My Dress, The House That Jack Built, The Complete Kismet Acoustic, Undress and Love Letter For Fire which saw her unite with Sam Beam of Iron & Wine to write exquisite songs about love, penned by a pair who are not in love.

Hoop’s latest offering is the album Memories Are Now which is released through Sub Pop. The recent record has entranced the critics.

Past, present, and future rest patiently before Hoop, and she’s weaved them all into her most endearing album yet.” - Drowned In Sound

Memories Are Now is a gorgeously delivered elegy to heartbreak and loss; powerful, perfectly executed songs to bring comfort and strength to the weary, broken and scorned.” - The Skinny
