Skindred are a Welsh rock powerhouse who pioneered a bold fusion of reggae, punk, metal and electronica to create a sound that’s instantly recognisable and relentlessly energetic. Formed in Newport in 1998 by frontperson Benji Webbe — previously of Dub War — the band have carved out a fearless musical identity built on groove-driven riffs, danceable rhythms and Webbe’s charismatic vocals. Their genre-bending approach marries heavy guitars with reggae and dub flourishes, delivering songs that are as infectious as they are hard-hitting, and inviting audiences from across the musical spectrum into their high-octane world.
Across a career spanning more than two decades, Skindred have released a series of acclaimed albums including Babylon (2002), Roots Rock Riot (2007), Union Black (2011), Kill the Power (2014) and Smile (2023), each showcasing their restless creativity and knack for explosive hooks. Renowned for their blistering live shows, they’ve headlined festivals worldwide and built a devoted global following through sheer force of sound and stage presence.
