Hi Gigantic Gang,

How’s the new year treating you so far? Still sticking to all those well-meaning New Years resolutions or have the diets, not drinking and dabbles in veganism already been long forgotten after a massive kebab and booze binge?

Don’t worry, we’re not judging because all we want to do is let you know about the awesome tracks that have just been dropped and get you to the gigs to hear them being played live. Yes, it’s the end of the week so that means its time for Gigantic’s #NewMusicFriday blog and playlist!

Keep scrolling to check out the tunes you need to know and discover a little bit more of the stories behind the music. And be sure to comment to let us know what YOU think about these songs plus what new releases in 2020 you are looking forward to hearing in the year ahead.

It’s going to be a huge year for live music, see you at the front x

NADA SURF‘So Much Love’

Nada Surf are one of the world’s biggest cult bands and they kick off the new year by dropping sensational new single ‘So Much Love’. Emotionally charged and truly anthemic, ‘So Much Love’ has a whole lot of heart and looks to a brighter future for a world currently ruled by those that seek to bring out the worst in people.

“‘So Much Love’ is a song that celebrates good will between people. Sometimes it can be hard to remember that it's there. But it's all around us. A little tolerance and acceptance can be built on. Small gestures add up. We're good at love and being kind. It comes naturally to us, but so do other things. You just have to keep looking for the right way to lean.” – Matthew Caws

‘So Much Love’ follows the release of the singles ‘Something I Should Do’ and ‘Looking For You’ last year, with all three tracks featuring on their next album ‘NEVER NOT TOGETHER’ – their first LP in almost four years! Recorded in the legendary Rockfield Studios at Monmouthshire in Wales, renowned for being the birthplace of Queen’s ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’ and countless classic albums, ‘NEVER NOT TOGETHER’ is expected to be one of the best record releases of 2020!

Nada Surf tickets are currently available.

POPPY – ‘I Disagree

Everybody’s favourite oddball Poppy is back with new album ‘I Disagree’ via Sumerian Records. Continuing in her own inimitable style, she told NME that her third full length record was inspired by themes of destruction: “Well, now I have decided that it would be nice to light things on fire and destroy the rest of what was remaining previously.  We rebuild at the end, but we can talk about that later.

I Disagree’ saw Poppy enlist the aid of Titanic [Sinclair], Chris Greatti and Zakk Cervini to record her unique blend of metalcore, j-pop, industrial and horror inspired electro which seems to have been inspired by the most joyful aspects of the internet and the deepest recesses of the darkweb.

You can see Poppy when she plays Manchester Academy 2 and O2 Academy2 Birmingham during March.

Poppy tickets are currently available.
