About Menswe@r
Menswe@r are a band who have become synonymous with the term “Britpop”. Formed in Camden Town by frontman Johnny Dean and bass player Stuart Black in late 1993 they quickly became the focus of a media frenzy that resulted in a music industry bidding war that has become the stuff of legend. Eventually they signed to London Records for a reported £90,000, as well as a publishing deal with Island Records for half a million pounds. With just just seven songs in their repertoire this worked out at around £70,000 per song. They also made BBC television history by being the first act to appear on Top of the Pops without having released a record.
The band scored six top thirty hits and an album that peaked at 11, toured the world and gained superstar status in Japan.
In 2013 frontman Johnny Dean assembled a new line up to perform charity shows for the National Autistic Society as well as mental health charity PMA Sports. A sell out show at London’s Bush Hall was followed by the release of a new single “Crash ‘14”.
October 2015 sees the 20th anniversary of their debut album Nuisance and Menswe@r intend to celebrate it with a limited number of shows across the UK.
