Martin Stephenson & The Daintees are a British band known for their distinctive blend of folk, rock and pop, led by singer-songwriter Martin Stephenson. Formed in the early 1980s in the North East of England, the group quickly gained attention for their melodic songwriting and witty, heartfelt lyrics. Their debut album Boat to Bolivia (1986) became a cult favourite, featuring standout tracks including “Crocodile Cryer” and helping to establish their reputation within the UK music scene.
Renowned for their engaging and often uplifting live performances, Martin Stephenson & The Daintees have maintained a loyal following across decades of touring. They have continued to perform regularly across the UK, with Stephenson also pursuing a successful solo career alongside the band. Known for their warmth, humour and genre-blending sound, they remain a much-loved and enduring presence in British music.
