Irish rock band celebrated for blending atmospheric intensity, emotional grit and bold experimentation.
Just Mustard are an experimental rock band from Dundalk, County Louth, Ireland, forging a unique space where noise, shoegaze, post-punk and electronic elements collide. Formed in 2015, the five-piece comprises Katie Ball (vocals), David Noonan (guitar / vocals), Mete Kalyon (guitar), Rob Clarke (bass) and Shane Maguire (drums). From the beginning, their performances built a reputation for enveloping intensity and emotional depth, with soundscapes that can feel delicate one moment and crushing the next.
Their debut Wednesday (2018) was self-produced and nominated for the Choice Music Prize, marking them as one of Ireland’s most compelling new voices. Their second album Heart Under (2022) pushed into darker terrain, shedding some of the more dreamlike shoegaze traits in favour of bold, raw noise rock energy. The band have since expanded their sonic palette further as they gear up for We Were Just Here, signalling a new chapter of introspection, tension and catharsis. Live, they stand out: they’ve played stages from SXSW to Glastonbury’s John Peel Stage, supporting acts such as The Cure and touring with Fontaines D.C., always rooted in vulnerability and sonic ambition.
