About Jungle Brothers

Jungle Brothers are a pioneering hip-hop trio from New York City, known for their innovative fusion of rap, jazz, funk, and house music. Formed in 1987 by Mike Gee, Afrika Baby Bam, and DJ Sammy B, they became key figures in the Native Tongues collective alongside De La Soul and A Tribe Called Quest. Their groundbreaking debut album, Straight Out the Jungle (1988), introduced their Afrocentric style and genre-blending approach, with tracks like “Because I Got It Like That” and “I’ll House You” becoming hip-hop classics.
