Unconventional and enigmatic, Joseph Arthur is a prolific folk-rock songwriter whose ever inventive music keeps adding to his tremendous body of work.
His debut record, Big City Secrets, was released in 1997 to modest success and exposed his music to a global audience. Released through Peter Gabriel’s Real World Records label, he would soon become heavily involved in Gabriel’s WOMAD events.
The debut album was followed by the 1999 EP Vacancy which received a Grammy nomination for Best Recording Package with its hand folded design created by art director Zachary Larner. This was followed by his second album Come To Where I’m From which was produced by the amazing alt-country star T-Bone Burnett.
Arthur created his own label; Lonely Astronaut under which he released his fifth album Nuclear Daydream which was recorded in both Los Angeles as well as Berlin and came out in 2006.
In total he has currently released thirteen studio albums and had his work featured on the sound tracks for film and television.
His new album titled The Family will be released later in the year and promoted by live performances.
