Jonathan Roy, born in Pointe-Claire, Quebec in 1989, initially followed in his father’s footsteps—NHL legend Patrick Roy—by pursuing junior hockey, before shifting his focus to music. After releasing his debut album What I’ve Become (2009) and follow-up Found My Way (2010), he recorded a French-language record La route (2011). In 2017 he released Mr. Optimist Blues, his major‐label debut under the guidance of 1980s pop star Corey Hart, who wrote several songs and helped shape the album’s sound.
Roy’s later albums include My Lullaby (2021) and Life Distortions (2023), the latter representing a deeper, more introspective phase of his artistry. With his warm vocal tone and ability to merge pop sensibility with sincerity, Jonathan Roy has built a catalogue that honours his roots while moving confidently into new emotional territory.
