Hugh Cornwell, The Live Rooms, Chester - 8th November 2018
A friendly venue which gets some good acts. Not the first time I have seen Hugh there but this time performing a set of solo material which is always excellent and included some of the songs from the Monster album which has rightly received good reviews followed by a second set of Stranglers material which was varied and accomplished 'death by strangulation'. The secret is out of the bag as the venue was fuller than previously and yes he really is that good.Clearly Hugh and his excellent band were enjoying themselves and the audience responded enthusiastically. Having seen Hugh perform No More Heroes and Totem and Taboo in Manchester a few years ago the two set formula works well and having seen the Stranglers playing larger venues I have always enjoyed Hugh just as much and been mystified that venues haven't sold out. That may change now.

Hugh Cornwell Electric, The Sugarmill, Stoke-on-Trent - 2nd November 2018
Just no one else can sing those sublime Stranglers classics. His voice is still amazing. Great band and his solo songs still had that essence of the Stranglers hits. Thoroughly enjoyed it. Shame some people behind me lacked respect to listen but thats gigs these days.

Hugh Cornwell, Town Hall, Louth - 1st November 2017
Really enjoyed a concert at my home town for once, instead of having to travel. Hugh was very good and his voice is pretty much as it was when I last saw him the Eighties. The concert was a little bizarre with rows of seats and lots of polite applause, but the music was excellent and Hugh appeared to be enjoying himself, belting out some of his own music and a good string of Stranglers hits too. Duchess was a particular favourite of mine.
