High Society - Southend

Hailed as five-star ‘pure theatrical escapism’ by The Times and ‘studded with diamond performances from a top-notch cast” (Financial Times), High Society is the most swell party of the year, direct from the sell-out season in London’s West End!

Helen George (Call the Midwife, The King and I) leads a 28-strong cast as glamorous socialite Tracy Lord, joined by stage and screen favourites Freddie Fox (Slow Horses), Nigel Lindsay (Kiss Me, Kate), Julian Ovenden (South Pacific), and Malcolm Sinclair (Pie in the Sky). As plans for the society wedding of the year descend into chaos, old and new flames vie for attention while a sharp-eyed tabloid reporter hunts for a scandal at a waterfront estate.

Performed alongside a full-size orchestra, this lavish new production features a score overflowing with the best of Cole Porter’s songbook, including Just One Of Those Things, Let’s Misbehave, I Love Paris, Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?, Well, Did You Evah!, True Love, and many more.

Brought to life by a multi award-winning creative team, including director Rachel Kavanaugh and choreographer Anthony Van Laast, High Society declares the summer season officially open!

Music & lyrics by Cole Porter
Book by Arthur Kopit
Additional lyrics by Susan Birkenhead
Based on the play The Philadelphia Story by Philip Barry
