Fatherson are a Scottish indie rock trio known for their soaring anthems, emotional depth and the unmistakable warmth of their songwriting. Formed around the long-standing musical partnership of Ross Leighton (guitar, lead vocals), Marc Strain (bass) and Greg Walkinshaw (drums), the band have built a reputation for crafting songs that feel both intimate and stadium-sized. Their debut album I Am an Island (2014) introduced their heartfelt, melodic sound, followed by Open Book (2016), a record that showcased their gift for pairing vulnerable lyricism with powerful crescendos and sweeping guitar work.
Their evolution continued with Sum Of All Your Parts (2018), a bold, atmospheric release that experimented with texture and rhythm while keeping their emotional core intact. Most recently, Normal Fears (2022) delved into themes of anxiety, self-reflection and modern life, wrapped in the band’s signature blend of tenderness and urgency. On stage, Fatherson are known for their moving, cathartic performances — bringing fans together through huge choruses, rich harmonies and a heartfelt connection. With four acclaimed records and a loyal following, Fatherson remain one of Scotland’s most compelling modern indie acts.
