A cult Washington, DC trio whose experimental rock sound and lone album have become a defining influence on ’90s indie and progressive music.
Formed in the late ’90s in Washington, DC, Faraquet began as a low-key side project before quickly evolving into something far more distinctive. What started as an outlet for three friends soon became a focused creative force, driven by a shared desire to push beyond the conventions of traditional rock. Their music fused diverse influences with dynamic shifts, intricate melodies and an experimental edge that set them apart from their peers, carving out a sound that felt both cerebral and emotionally charged.
Although their time together was relatively brief, Faraquet left a lasting imprint on the indie and progressive rock scenes. Their sole studio album, The View From This Tower, released via Dischord Records, has grown into a cult touchstone of ’90s experimental rock. In 2025, the band mark the album’s 25th anniversary, with Devin Ocampo, Jeff Boswell and Chad Molter reuniting for their first live performances since 2008, offering audiences a rare chance to experience their intricate, forward-thinking sound once again.
