Dune Rats are a Brisbane-born Australian rock band who have built a reputation on infectious hooks, tongue-in-cheek energy and chaotic good times. Originally formed as a duo featuring Danny Beus on guitar and lead vocals and BC Michael Marks on drums, the band later expanded into a three-piece with bassist Brett Jansch joining the fold. They first gained attention in 2010 after uploading “Colour Television” to Triple J Unearthed, setting the tone for their sun-soaked, fuzzed-out sound.
Their self-titled debut album Dune Rats arrived on 30th May 2014 via their own Ratbag Records, launching a global touring run and the official expansion of the label. In 2017, The Kids Will Know It’s Bullshit debuted at number one on the ARIA Albums Chart, cementing their place at the forefront of Australian rock. Later releases including Real Rare Whale (2022) and If It Sucks, Turn It Up (2024) continued their irreverent streak, with Old Mates set for release in March 2026, revisiting and re-recording early fan favourites from their first three EPs.
