Drowning Pool & Spineshank are two influential bands within the nu-metal and industrial metal scenes, both having made their mark with their hard-hitting sound and memorable anthems.
Drowning Pool, formed in Dallas, Texas, in 1996, rose to prominence with their debut album Sinner (2001), which featured the iconic track “Bodies.” The song became a hallmark of the nu-metal genre, with its aggressive sound and defiant lyrics resonating deeply with fans. Over the years, the band has seen several line-up changes, but the core members — guitarist C.J. Pierce, drummer Mike Luce, and bassist Stevie Benton — have kept the band's legacy alive. Their discography includes albums such as Desensitized (2004), Full Circle (2007), Resilience (2013), and Hellelujah (2016). After a brief hiatus, Ryan McCombs rejoined the band as lead vocalist in 2023.
Spineshank, formed in Los Angeles in 1996, is known for blending heavy guitar riffs, industrial beats, and aggressive vocals. Their breakthrough album The Height of Callousness (2000) is considered one of the defining releases in the early nu-metal scene. Spineshank’s sound draws from a mix of metal and electronic influences, with memorable tracks like “New Disease” and “Smothered” remaining fan favorites. The band’s discography includes Strictly Diesel (1998), Self-Destructive Pattern (2003), and Anger Denial Acceptance (2012). They remain a key player in the industrial and nu-metal subgenres, known for their relentless energy and powerful performances.
Both bands continue to influence new generations of rock and metal enthusiasts.
