Dakka Skanks are a five-piece ska, dub and reggae band from Brighton, known for their high-energy sound and infectious, feel-good spirit. Formed in 2016, the band set out to put a fresh spin on classic British ska and reggae, blending up-tempo rhythms, punchy riffs and dub-heavy grooves with a sharp modern edge. Their recorded output includes the album Road to Brighton Pier (2018), followed by the EP In Control (2022) and Reworks (2024), each release capturing their lively sound and growing confidence as songwriters and performers.
Celebrated for explosive and joy-filled live shows, Dakka Skanks have built a strong reputation on stages across the UK and beyond. They are regular fixtures on the Brighton circuit and have hosted their own headline events, including the Dakka Skanks Takeover at The Hope & Ruin. The band have also taken their music further afield, touring in Europe and appearing at festivals including Manchester Punk Festival. With an unmistakably down-to-earth attitude and an all-action approach to performance, Dakka Skanks deliver reggae and ska with passion, purpose and plenty of skanking energy.
