Chas 'n' Dave

With more rabbit than a certain well-known supermarket, a sideboard ‘ere for good measure and a tradition firmly entrenched in the ‘Knees up Mothe... Read morer Brown’ style of sing-along pub music, Chas and Dave are unashamedly ‘Cockneys’ through and through.

The East End’s answer to the Wurzels, Chas Hodges and Dave Peacock (with Chas’ son Nik taking over from the ever-faithful Mick Wurt on drums in 2011) have been enticing audiences to sing along with gusto since the launch of their debut recording ‘One fing ‘n’ anuvver’ in 1976. Today they’re still going strong, and still winning audiences over with their cheeky chappy style of ‘Rockney’, backed up with some solid musical skills and a unique songwriting style.

This year they’re off again, touring the UK. With several gigs up in the North already under their belts this year, Chas and Dave tour dates recommence in October with a gig at the Wrexham Aston Hall on the 24th, Southampton’s Engine Room on November 21st and cumulating with a gig in their home town at the Eventim Apollo, London on the 12th December. Chas and Dave tickets sell out surprisingly quickly, but at Gigantic we have tickets available for their UK gigs right now.

Starting life as session musicians, Chas and Dave’s unique blend of sing-along cockney tunes combined with rocking undertones was initially dismissed by the music press as nothing more than a ‘novelty act’. However, that novelty was exactly what audiences were looking for, and the duo went on to achieve considerable chart success with a series of catchy singles including ‘Rabbit’, ‘There ain’t no pleasing you’ and ‘Gertcha’, a cockney expression that took some explaining to anyone not born within the sound of Bow Bells. Success brought with it their own television show ‘Chas and Dave’s Knees Up’ during the mid-eighties, and a solid back-catalogue of albums spanning five decades.

Recently, the duo have circled back around and are once again increasingly popular with audiences who simply want to have a good old sing-along to tunes they’re familiar with and in a relaxed and friendly environment. Consequently, Chas and Dave concert tickets are in high demand, so if you fancy getting your brasses (brass bands " hands) on a couple of tickets, check out the listings at Gigantic now.
