About A Night Out With Michael Caine

Michael Caine is a two-time Oscar-winner whose distinctive voice and range has made him one of the most popular actors the UK has ever produced. From his big break in Zulu in 1964 to his current popularity with a whole new generation through The Dark Knight and Inception, Michael Caine has entertained millions around the world for 50 years.

To mark this milestone, Sir Michael is appearing on one of the world’s most celebrated stages to look back over his extraordinary screen career. Interviewed live on stage by TV presenter and film buff Jonathan Ross, Caine will be recalling his work in all his major film roles, including The Italian Job, The Ipcress File, Alfie, Get Carter, Educating Rita, Hannah and Her Sisters, Dirty Rotten Scoundrels and The Dark Knight. Sir Michael will share his memories of working with the greatest directors, actors and writers, and what drives him to still make movies into his 80s. In between the chat, the London Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Gavin Greeenaway, will perform music from Caine’s best known films, accompanying film clips on big screens.

All profits from the concert will go directly to the NSPCC, a charity very close to Michael Caine’s heart. Says Caine: “When I was a little boy I was evacuated for a couple of weeks and I was very ill-treated, so I’ve always wanted to help children and I’m happy to support the NSPCC. And I am thrilled to be appearing at the iconic Royal Albert Hall to hear music from some of my films, including scores by my friends Hans Zimmer and John Barry."

Peter Wanless, NSPCC Chief Executive, said: “Sir Michael is a long-time supporter of the NSPCC, and we’re absolutely thrilled that he has chosen us as the beneficiary for this unique event. It promises to be an unforgettable evening with music and clips from some of Sir Michael’s most famous films alongside anecdotes from his glittering career.”

Concert Producer Tommy Pearson said: “It’s a great honour to be working with Michael on this event. Bringing together his unique, engaging presence and the world-class musicians of the London Symphony Orchestra to play music from his movies is a dream come true, and all for a great cause.”

The money raised will help the NSPCC to protect vulnerable children and prevent abuse through its projects and services including ChildLine“ the UK’s free, confidential 24-hour helpline and online service for children and young people. For more information, visit nspcc.org.uk/michaelcaine.
