About Zahara
Multi award-winning South African singer, songwriter & guitarist, Zahara, grew up listening to the late Miriam Makeba, Dorothy Masuka & Rebecca Malope. She taught herself to play guitar at 'varsity, and joined her school's choir at the age of six. Signed to DJ Sbu & TK Nciza's label TS Records, her debut album "Loliwe" has sold over 800,000 copies to date and has achieved double platinum status. Zahara's music is loosely termed Afrosoul - likened to a mixture of Tracy Chapman, India Arie and the Nigerian singer A?a - and she sings in both her native language, Xhosa, and English. Zahara will perform with a 7-piece band for her debut concert at O2 Shepherds Bush Empire on 30th November.
