We Are Scientists burst on to the scene in the mid-noughties with their knack for writing perfect riffs and enrapturing their audience with amazing in-between song banter. Simply the best indie rock band in the world.
Although the band is comprised of California-based college students guitarist Keith Murray and bassist Chris Cain, it wasn’t until We Are Scientists relocated to Brooklyn that they really got started. Building a dedicated fanbase there, word began to slip outside of New York about their fantastic post punk revival music.
They released three EPs and independently brought out an album before being signed to Virgin Records and released the album With Love And Squalor in 2006. The record featured supremely catchy singles such as Nobody Move, Nobody Get Hurt, The Great Escape and It’s A Hit and saw the band reach #43 in the UK Album charts and certified Gold only six months after release.
Their next major release was the Brain Thrust Mastery album which came out in 2008 and smashed straight into #11 in the UK. The record was followed by Barbara in 2010, the same year in which Cain and Murray appeared in their own MTV comedy series Steve Wants His Money. Their fourth studio album TV en Français rose to #36 in the charts upon its release in 2014.
Helter Seltzer is the name of their latest album. Released in April of 2016 the record continues to see the band write insanely catchy songs combined with tracks of absolute sincerity.
We Are Scientists tickets are now on sale. See them play at Wedgewood Rooms in Portsmouth, The Hub at Plymouth, The Slade Rooms at Wolverhampton and Norwich’s Waterfront in October. They then continue to Cambridge Junction in November.
