Naming themselves after the unemployment benefit form, UB40 formed in 1978, before releasing their debut album ‘Signing Off’ in August 1980 considered by many to be one of the greatest reggae albums ever released by a British band. It was the start of a career that has since seen the band have over forty UK Top 40 hit singles and achieve sales of over 100 million records, making UB40 one of the most successful British groups of all-time.

The award winning group was first started by friends from various schools and practiced in a local basement. Although the Birmingham band identified with left wing politics, they looked to move past the other punk and two tone bands that proliferated the country at the time. Influenced by jazz, dub and reggae, the band developed a sound of their own through long and arduous practice. The practice paid off as they shone out when they began playing live concerts - including being invited to perform by Rock Against Racism.

UB40 have topped the charts both here and in the US. Their hit single include Rat In Mi Kitchen, Don’t Break My Heart, Food For Thought, I Got You Babe,I Can’t Help Falling In Love With You and Red Red Wine.

Your UB40 tickets can be bought through the Gigantic website.

This summer sees the much loved band play at fantastic festivals. In June the band will play at Let’s Rock Bristol taking place at Ashton Court.

July sees UB40 play Splendour In Nottingham, taking place at Wollaton Park. They will also play at the terrific Coast2Coast at Rhyl Arena.

Always book your concert ticket nice and early to avoid disappointment.

October sees them play highly anticipated headline shows at The Nick Rayns LCR in Norwich and Manchester Academy.
