THRUM return to the spotlight with the long-awaited re-release of their classic album Rifferama, arriving on 26th June 2026 on Fire Records.Rifferama recently featured in the Classic Album series of The Glasgow Herald, the record was originally recorded in San Francisco and released in 1994 featuring the indie hit singles Here I Am and So Glad.Rifferama has long been a cult favourite—an essential snapshot of the band's melodic power and emotional charge. Its renewed release marks a major moment for a group whose influence has quietly echoed through Scotland's indie landscape for decades.Originally formed in 1992 in Bellshill, Scotland. At the heart of THRUM are Monica Queen and Johnny Smillie, a partnership defined by contrast and chemistry. Queen's voice—soulful, wounded, fearless—remains one of the most distinctive in Scottish music, capable of shifting from intimate hush to soaring gospel-tinged fire. Smillie, her long-time collaborator, shapes the band's sonic backbone with his signature guitar work and production: sharp-edged, tender, and meticulously crafted.Together, they create songs that balance rawness with beauty, grit with grace. THRUM's sound threads the line between power-pop, Americana, and Glasgow's jangling indie heritage—always with an emotional directness that sets them apart. With Rifferama stepping back into circulation and a renewed hunger for the stage, THRUM are gearing up for Rifferama Revisited 7 day run of live shows in July 2026, bringing their timeless songwriting to both long-time fans and new audiences discovering them for the first time.Their performances—honest, dynamic, and richly melodic—capture everything that has made THRUM endure.THRUM are ready to bring Rifferama back to life, louder and brighter than ever.
