Irish trad-fusion band of brothers who blend folk tradition, punk energy and harmonic depth.
The Wran are a trad-fusion band from County Waterford, Ireland, formed by brothers Tommy, Danny, Sean and Stephen Dunford. They weave traditional Irish music with contemporary folk, punk and psychedelic elements — infusing old tunes and original compositions with fresh energy and bold textures. Their instrumentation includes banjo, acoustic and electric guitar, accordion, bass, drums and harmonium, all combined with richly layered four-part harmonies to powerful effect.
Though still early in their journey, The Wran have quickly made their mark on the Irish and UK festival circuits. They have been featured at festivals such as Glastonbury, Electric Picnic and All Together Now, and they were swiftly signed by roots agency Midnight Mango following a performance at the “Your Roots Are Showing” showcase in Ireland. Their live shows are known for shifting between ferocious intensity and delicate nuance, reflecting their ability to balance tradition with experimentation.
