Want to see a great live band? Go and see the Wave Pictures, always a great night. First time at the venue, really enjoyed it and would certainly go again

Witty indie darlings The Wave Pictures come from the C86 tradition of DIY aesthetic and sardonic charged tunes. Relentlessly prolific, the band have produced seventeen studio albums. The band unites drummer Jonny Helm, singer David Tattersall who plays guitar and Franic Rozycki on bass.

charming, witty pop songs shot through with Jonathan Richman's gawky glee and Suede's doomed provincial romanticism... They owe a certain debt to The Smiths, and Tattersall has Morrissey's knack of marrying the ridiculous and the sublime” - The Guardian

They have already began selling for a show at KOKO in London on Thursday 21st of February - plus The Cookie in Leicester on Tuesday 19th of March has just been announced too!

Beginning during 1998 in the small northern Leicestershire rural village of Wymeswold in the East Midlands, the band had already steeped themselves in musical lore by raiding their parents classical rock collections and avidly listening to everything John Peel would broadcast. Initially calling themselves Blind Summit before changing to The Wave Pictures following a change in the line-up, the band was somewhat part time for the first eight years as various members attended different universities making them mainstays to the independent venue circuit. Despite not fully committing, the band succeeded in playing with the likes of Darren Hayman, Herman Düne, Jeffrey Lewis and the Mountain Goats, all of whom appeared on their CD-R albums.

By 2006 they were all finally graduated and relocated to London resulting in being signed to Moshi Moshi Records.
They promptly released three albums in two years, marking the beginning of their truly industrial levels of output.
Their latest albums titles include A Season In Hull, Bamboo Diner In The Rain and Brushes With Happiness which are released through the band’s very own label; Wymeswold Records.
