The Offline is the creative alias of German composer and multi-instrumentalist Felix Müller, whose music channels the lush atmospheres of ’60s and ’70s film soundtracks through a modern lens. Based in Hamburg, Müller draws inspiration from his time travelling the south-west coast of France with his analogue camera, and he uses those visual memories as a foundation for his sonic storytelling. His approach combines funk-inflected grooves, horn and woodwind textures, jazzy keyboards and cinematic sweep — creating sound worlds that feel like “a soundtrack to a movie that’s never been made.”
His debut EP En Clair-Obscur (2022) introduced his analogue-inspired aesthetic, while his full-length album La couleur de la mer (2023) broadened the palette into dramatic, sun-drenched territory, exploring themes of coastlines, secrecy and movement. The follow-up EP Les Cigales (2024) shifts the scene toward the Mediterranean, offering a more relaxed but still richly composed experience. Through all his work, The Offline invites listeners into immersive worlds where groove, mood and memory converge — a rare voice in modern instrumental music.
