The Hillbilly Moon Explosion are a Zürich-based rockabilly and roots-rock ensemble that began in 1998. Founded by vocalist/bassist Oliver Baroni and vocalist/rhythm-guitarist Emanuela Hutter, the band also features guitarist Duncan James and drummer Sylvain Petite. Their sound draws from rock ’n’ roll, jump blues, swing, country and surf-music influences, creating a bold hybrid of vintage style and modern energy.
Their debut album Introducing The Hillbilly Moon Explosion (2002) laid the foundation for their cinematic, high-octane sound. In the UK and beyond they’ve graced stages as support to legendary acts, including opening for Jeff Beck in Paris. With records such as Buy, Begin or Steal (2011) and With Monsters and Gods (2016) they evolved their style while staying true to their rockabilly roots. Known for analogue flair, vivid imagery and twin-lead vocals that switch between sultry and snarling, the Hillbilly Moon Explosion bring vintage groove to contemporary audiences.
