Wave a fond farewell to Summer and dance the night away with a toe-tapping, shoe-shuffling, shoulder-shimmying extravaganza from our very own local Jive and Swing specialists - the Swing Unlimited Dance Band.
The theme for the night is Goodbye to the Longest Hottest Summer in History. Think Hawaiian shirts or Over the Top Summer wear or even full-on beach wear for the brave. Maybe even a Carmen Miranda Hat or 2! It’s not obligatory, but it’ll be your last chance to air your Bermuda shorts in 2026, so go for it!
With 2 x full 1 hour sets, (plus, quite frankly, a mandatory 15 minute encore), covering every style of music from the Forties to the Noughties, there is something for everyone in a show that will lower your stress and raise the roof all at the same time.
If you already love dancing, you'll be able to Jive, Modern-Jive, Stroll and Swing Dance to a full range of vintage, Ratpack and modern tunes right from the get-go. A decent slab of vibrant latin rhythms will also allow you to cha-cha and salsa to your heart's content. There’ll be something for the Quicksteppers and we'll even throw in a splash of old skool disco and funk.
For those who prefer to listen to their music, you'll love the fact that it's a full 17 piece Big Band sound, giving a sound that's second to none. A Bold and Punchy Trumpet / Trombone Brass Section of 8 players, underpins no less than 5 Sweet Swinging Saxophones, with the engine room coming from a 4 piece Rhythm Section to die for. If you want more than that, you're just being greedy! Whatever your tastes, we'll have plenty to sate your appetite and keep your toes tapping all night long.
Our guest singers for the evening are some of the very best to be found anywhere on the South Coast. We guarantee that your jaws will drop when you hear just how good they are! Remember to close your mouths again at the end of their songs!
If you've never danced before, need a bit of encouragement to release your inner "Strictly Shirley" or struggle with 2 Left Feet, then fear naught as help is at hand. Our friends from Swingshift Dance Classes in Bournemouth will be here to help. They'll give a simple and fun Lindy Hop / Jive lesson shortly after the doors open to get you into the mood. Come as a solo, a couple or a group - we 'll look after you and soon get you moving. For those with the stamina, during the interval there’ll be another teaching session, covering some extra moves and styling for those with a little experience and/or no inhibitions.
The whole evening is given a final extra shine from the tender hands of Mr Pat Peiro, a compere unlike any other on the music circuit. He is artful, articulate and astonishingly amusing.
Vamp up your outfit to suit the night. There'll be a prize for the best summer themed outfit on the night and another prize for the best / most stylish / most flamboyant summer themed hat.
