Sudanese singer, oud player and composer Sulaf brings the rich musical heritage of her homeland to the live stage. Around her extraordinary voice she weaves oud, electronics and expansive arrangements, drawing on Nubian rhythms, devotional traditions and the Sufi poetry of her great-grandfather. The result is a sound that feels both ancient and strikingly modern, exploring themes of loss, identity, memory and resilience while carrying Sudan's spirit across borders.
A vital new voice from Sudan's musical diaspora, Sulaf lends her soulful, melismatic vocals to the traditional Sudanese song "Sagherat Assani" on Tinariwen's album Hoggar, and previously recorded with Algerian band Imarhan on their 2022 album Aboogi. She has also shared stages with Tinariwen across Europe. On stage, her spellbinding voice and deep-rooted songcraft make for a captivating, deeply moving live experience.
