Soul Asylum are an American rock band from Minneapolis known for their dynamic blend of punk energy, melodic guitar rock and emotionally resonant songwriting. Formed in the early 1980s by frontman Dave Pirner, the band emerged from the celebrated Minneapolis scene alongside peers such as The Replacements and Hüsker Dü, quickly gaining a reputation for their raw live performances and heartfelt songs that balance aggression with vulnerability.
